TELEPHONE
Call in or telephone Whalley on 01254 823273 between 8.30 am and
6.00 pm, Monday to Friday.
Telephone Sabden on 01282 772 045 between 9.00 am and 11.30 pm
daily and between 2.00 and 6.00 pm on Mondays and Fridays. (If the
Sabden Health Centre is closed please telephone Whalley.)
You may make an appointment with any of the partners. Appointments
for routine consultations are usually available within 24 hours.
Children under two years are always offered same day appointments.
Our patient's charter states that we try to see patients within
20 minutes of their appointment time. If we cannot do so then a
reasonable explanation must be given for the delay. It is often
difficult for the doctors to keep to their schedules due to unforeseen
emergencies or problems in the surgery, though every effort is made
to keep appointments to time; if however, you feel you have been
waiting for an unreasonable amount of time, please speak to the
receptionist.
To help with the smooth running of the surgery we would be grateful
if patients could consider the following;-
Appointments are made initially for one person, if other members
of the family need to consult the doctor, please make a separate
appointment.
Urgent cases will be seen the same day, but not always by your
own Doctor.
Please only request a home visit if it is absolutely necessary
- you may be asked to speak to a nurse before a home visit is arranged.
Please inform the practice if you are unable to keep your appointment,
so that it can be offered to other people.
Please give the receptionist as much information about your condition
as possible, so that she can help you decide the best treatment
Whalley hours
The Whalley surgery is open from 8.00 am to 6.30 pm each weekday.
Surgeries are 8.30 to 11.00 am in the morning, 2.00 to 4.00 pm in
the afternoon and 4.00 to 6.00 pm in the evening on weekdays. We
also offer extended surgeries on Mondays and alternate Wednesdays
and Thursdays from 6.30pm to 8.00pm for patients who are unable
to attend during normal working hours. All surgeries at Whalley
are by appointment only.
Sabden Hours
The Sabden Surgery is open from 9.00 am to 11.30 pm each weekday
and from 2.00 to 6.OO pm on Mondays and Fridays. Morning surgeries
are 10.30 to 11.30 am and evening surgeries are 5.00 to 6.00 pm.All
surgeries at Sabden are by appointment only.
Urgent appointments
The surgery is closed after 6.30pm each evening, the weekend
and bank holidays. If you need a doctor urgently at these times
telephone 01254 823273 and you will be given the number for the
out of hours service. You will be offered advice, a home visit or
be asked to attend the emergency centre at the hospital. In desperate
emergencies an ambulance can be summoned by dialling 999.
Home visits
If you are too ill to come to the surgery a home visit can be
arranged by telephoning 01254 823273 (Whalley) or 01282 772045 (Sabden).
All house calls for that day must be rung in before 10.30 am so
that the doctors may plan their rounds before leaving the surgery.
Explaining the symptoms, if at all possible, to the receptionist
will also help the doctor to see the most urgent cases first. One
doctor from the practice will be "on call" for the rest
of the day to deal with any emergency visits which may arise. As
you no doubt appreciate, this practice covers a very large area,
so any calls which come in after I0.30 am should be of an urgent
nature only.
